So often in life we take our health for granted, but when you start dating and meeting new people you will find that a lot of people aren’t so lucky. There are a lot of diseases out there, such as diabetes, that require a person to think about their food choices and activities a bit more carefully than they would otherwise, but they are still able to do all of the things that you do. You need to look at the condition that the person has and be honest about whether or not you are willing to deal with it.
If you are feeling a little hesitant, be honest with the person about how you are feeling. Chances are they have some apprehension about dating someone that doesn’t know about the condition or has never had any first hand experience with it. You may be surprised to learn that they are just as worried as you are, and this will bring you together in a new way that will likely allow you to get past the fact that they have a disease or condition at all.
The bottom line is that a condition or disease does not change who a person is. Instead, it is just a small part of who they are or what they deal with, and chances are if you liked them before you knew that they were ill or impaired in any way, this condition has added to the greatness of who they are. Don’t assume that an illness has to be a negative thing, instead assume otherwise until you are proven wrong. You just might surprise yourself with how beautiful a relationship can be when you allow it to go there despite unforeseen circumstances or issues.
